What Happens During a Secure ITAD Project?
A secure project starts before pickup
The first step is defining the scope: locations, equipment types, estimated quantities, access requirements, timing, data-security rules, and the reports the customer expects. That plan becomes the foundation for the manifest and custody record.
Pickup and custody transfer
Assets are counted, staged, securely loaded, and signed over to identified personnel. The customer, project, site, shipment, pallet or container, and handling instructions remain connected throughout transportation.
Receiving, tracking, and sanitization
At receiving, the shipment is reconciled and each asset is linked to its manufacturer, model, serial number, customer, and project. Data-bearing media is identified and processed using the customer-approved sanitization or destruction method. Failed and locked media is quarantined instead of silently passing downstream.
Recovery, recycling, and reporting
Reusable assets are evaluated for testing, reuse, refurbishment, remarketing, or parts recovery. Non-recoverable equipment moves to qualified downstream recycling partners. The project closes with inventory reconciliation, data-processing results, final disposition records, and any agreed value settlement.
